The sophomore season of ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder saw Connor (Jack Falahee) and Oliver’s (Conrad Ricamora) relationship reach new levels. The couple stayed strong despite l the chaotic drama surrounding them, and worked around Oliver’s diagnosis.
Fans of Oliver will be happy to know they can expect to see more of the tech-savvy character in Season 3, as Ricamora has been promoted to a series regular. The actor joined the ABC thriller in Season 1 as a recurring guest star.
That said, there could be trouble brewing on the relationship end. In Season 2, Connor applied to transfer to Stanford’s law school and got accepted. Except he has no clue it worked out. Oliver, who is growing increasingly engrossed in the world of Annalise (Viola Davis), deleted Connor’s acceptance letter and impersonated his boyfriend asking the dean to never call again.
“[Oliver] has a new lease on life… not only meeting Connor, but also his [HIV-positive] diagnosis,” told HTGAWM showrunner Pete Nowalk to TVLine. “All of it has made him look at his life and say, ‘What do I really want?’ He wants a little bit more excitement. He wants to feel passionate about his job. He doesn’t want to be bored.”
While the acceptance letter betrayal may seem like enough for Connor to leave Oliver, there’s more at play. Connor has not been 100 percent honest with Oliver either; he has not kept his boyfriend up to speed with how the Keating Five got rid of Sam’s (Tom Verica) body or any of their other questionable actions.
“Oliver knows Connor did something bad — something for which he could be arrested,” Ricamora said to TVLine. “But involvement in a murder is a whole different level of deception.
How to Get Away With Murder returns to ABC on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EDT/PDT.
