Hugh Jackman has stated on several different occasions that Logan would be his final film as the character. That makes sense— Logan is far and away the best film in the series, and it provided a satisfying sense of closure. But I wonder if Jackman’s position still stands after the massive Marvel-Fox deal? You know—the one where Disney bought the rights to all of Fox’s properties, including X-Men and the Fantastic Four . Will we see Jackman make a return as everyone’s favorite hardass? Well according to Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Bucky actor, Sebastian Stan, we might. During a panel with co-stars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie at Ace Comic Con, Sebastian told fans:
"Recently I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman. I didn't know what other awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, 'Am I going to see you soon?' I don't know. But he said a couple of things to me and I'll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to get into trouble with somebody."
Ooooh?!? Sounds like somebody is making a Clawback ? Honestly, this could mean anything, or nothing. I’d be surprised if Disney relaunched the X-Men for the MCU and decided to recast an actor so synonymous with such a successful continuity. Hugh Jackman was the best thing to come out of Bryan Singer’s X-Men movies. The best entries in the Wolverine franchise are worse than you remember, but even the worst ones mad Batman V. Superman look like Batman Begins . Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine was never the most faithful (though that gradually improved over every movie), but he brought a certain flair to the role that made up for any discrepancies.
EIther way, we’re excited to see what Marvel does with the property, Jackman or no Jackman. Can you imagine, a live-action Wolverine done right? With the yellow spandex? And the blue shoulder pads? And the shortness?
