Nintendo announced that the second Hyrule Warriors Legends DLC character will be Marin from Link’s Awakening. Nintendo of America tweeted that she will be the first downloadable character on the Link’s Awakening DLC for the 3DS and WII U game that is slated for release later this year.
Marin is a weird choice for the Dynasty Warriors clone that is Hyrule Warriors Legends . She sang on a flute and loved animals, which is pretty much the extent of her character. In Link’s Awakening, she finds our hero passed out on a beach and takes cares of him. She then teaches Link a song on the Ocarina that will awaken the Wind Fish egg and bring balance to the island. I still find myself whistling her tune, remembering that wonderful Gameboy melody.
Link’s Awakening was the first Gameboy game I ever got back in 1998. My mom only played one video game, and that was the original Zelda for the NES. When shopping for games for me she saw a version of the game she loved so many years ago, and bought it for me. I was six, and the game was pretty hard so I put it down and forgot all about its existence to my mother’s dismay. I didn’t beat it until last year, needing to prove that I am smarter now than when I was six.
Marin really hated when you hit animals, so she could be a defender in this game.
