I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next Hearthstone expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods, and the time has finally come. I purchased the pre-order bundle when it was first announced and having that many packs I was unable to open was driving me a little mad. After weeks of waiting, I am finally a servant of the Old Gods, and I can proudly say that RNGesus was not on my side.
Blizzard was kind enough to give us three packs just for logging in and you can earn more by winning games in Standard mode. In total, I have opened 55 packs of Whispers of The Old Gods and I catalogued my results.
Out of the 275 cards I pulled, 18 were Epic and only two were Legendaries. Ragnaros The Lightlord will find a home somewhere, but The Boogeymonster will be taking up space in my collection until I desperately need some dust.
Golden cards seemed to come less often than usual, though that’s most likely just because I’m salty: I only pulled five. I pulled a golden Renounce Darkness , which I have been using in my fun Warlock deck. When it’s played, all the cards it changes turn golden.
There were 88 doubles of commons and 15 doubles of rares, totaling out to 740 dust. Overall, I’m pretty excited about what I got. I’ve already created a Cho’Gall and I plan on making a Yogg-Saron when I get more dust. I’m trying to hold back buying more packs until the excitement factor comes down, but I’m not sure how strong my will is.
Whispers of The Old Gods has made Hearthstone feel fresh again, where nobody really knows what the best decks are. Although, in my three ranked games in Standard I’ve run into three Face Shamans using Evolve and Master of Evolution . The more things change, the more Doomhammers we see.
