We just got our first look at the gameplay of Injustice 2 on the Mortal Kombat X Twitch stream and it looks even more destructive than the first super hero fighting game. In the trailer, we see Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, Black Manta and Atrocitus fighting it out in some of the brand new destructible stages. There was Atlantis, Metropolis and what looks like Gotham getting smashed to smithereens. We got to see a few finishers but the best one by far was Aquaman pulling Grodd through a whirlpool, stabbing him and then having a great white shark rip him to shreds.
It’s not clear how the new armor system works yet, but it looks like that you put it on in battle. There do seem to be different armor platings that you can upgrade your character with, but it’s still impossible to tell from just this little bit of trailer.
Though the best part was seeing Atrocitus with Dex Starr , the Red Lantern cat. You’ve never heard of Dex Starr most likely, but he is one of the best characters in the DC universe. A normal earth cat was abused it’s entire life and eventually thrown in a bag and into a river. The rage consumed the cat so much that a red lantern ring traveling through the cosmos deemed it a worthy wielder. Dex Starr fought in the Sinestro Corps Wars and since then has been an important part of the Lantern universe.
Injustice 2 is coming out in 2017, with more details coming out at E3.
