Get the bomb squad ready because the latest major patch for the first-person shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm lets you and your team defuse bombs. That’s right, Operation Livewire is now available and it introduces the new Defusal game mode.
New Game Mode
Defusal is a new high-intensity, objective-based PvP game mode in Insurgency: Sandstorm where Insurgents will try their best to plant bombs at two cache points, while the Security team should stop them at all costs.
New Weapons
New World Interactive has also added two new weapons in Operation: Livewire, including the M60 for the Security team and the RPK for Insurgents. Both guns offer impressive firepower and have the attachment capability to that of the Galil and Galil SAR automatic rifles.
The set of attachments you can equip the M60 and RPK with is pretty good. For instance, if you’re the type of person who relies heavily on spraying your enemies with bullets, then Drum Magazine is certainly a good option.
New DLC
Insurgency: Sandstorm has new DLC content in the Livewire Set Bundle. This set contains gear and weapon sets for the two factions, such as the Technician Gear and Black Powder Skin Sets for Security, and Dealer Gear and Damascus Weapon Skin Sets for Insurgents.
The DLC bundle is currently priced at $9.92, but you also have the option of purchasing the individual skin sets for $3.00 a piece.
Firefight Changes
The company made a huge change to Firefight after taking some community feedback. Now, instead of fighting against a team of five players, this game mode has been reverted back to the original 12v12 gunfight.
According to the dev team, they will re-introduce the 5v5 mode after further playtesting and balancing.
For the uninitiated, Firefight is another objective-based game mode in Insurgency: Sandstorm with three territorial objectives (one for each team plus a neutral zone). Your team wins if you’ve managed to capture all three zones or have completely eliminated the opposing group.
Improved Map Lighting
There are maps in the game that are in dire need of lighting improvements. In Operation: Livewire, some maps received visible changes to improve navigation, as featured by the samples below.
Spawn Protection Timer
Getting camped while respawning sucks, which is why the game has a Spawn Protection system in place. This feature has also received one notable adjustment in that the Spawn Protection timer is now set at 30 seconds. The timer is reduced to five seconds after you start moving.
So, what can you say about the latest update?
Insurgency: Sandstorm Operation Livewire Update is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
