Nintendo Switch players looking for some challenge should give this new release a shot. It’s known as Interrogation: You Will Be Deceived and is already available on the platform. This is also the version that was developed using the Defold engine, which brings the story, along with the visuals, to life.
So, what is Interrogation all about? Well, players take on the role of a detective who is part of a police task force trying to prevent the plans of a shadowy group known as the Liberation Front from becoming reality. As the clock winds down, players need to make full use of the conversation system in order to question and emotionally manipulate suspects while unmasking perpetrators, all in order to prevent disaster.
The game has players solve complex conversational puzzles and race against time in order to stop the next attack. Each member of the squad comes with a unique set of skills and players need to learn how to make use of them in order discover the truth.
Each interrogation comes with a unique challenge and requires different attitudes and tactics in order to get suspects to tell the truth. There is no one solution, so players are free to use whatever methods they want, from empathy to guile, and even intimidation. Players can also use some enhanced interrogation techniques should they find themselves at a dead end. Don’t be accustomed to using these techniques though, as there may be ramifications, especially if word gets out about what is being done to the suspects.
Making the game even more exciting is the black and white art style. To make this happen, developer Critique Gaming made sure to capture the nuance of each suspect’s body language through rotoscoped photos from more than 40 actors. This should allow each interaction to feel authentic while increasing the level of tension with each question that players hand out.
Interrogation is set to question the player’s sense of right and wrong. Players also face real-world socio-political issues like radicalization, police brutality, and the power balance between the government and population.
Overall, key features of the game include:
- Using psychological methods to make suspects reveal their secrets.
- Manage a team, make use of resources, and make sure to uphold the reputation of the police force.
- Excellent noir rotoscoped art that’s based on thousands of photos coming from real actors.
- Atmospheric music that helps set the gritty mood.
- You can also listen to the soundtrack on Spotify.
- Narrative mode that lets players experience each of the multiple endings.
Interrogation: You Will Be Deceived is available on the Nintendo eShop for $12.99. The game is already available for PC and mobile devices.
