The latest iPhone 7 release date rumors suggest Apple’s entry-level iPhone 7 will boast 32GB of storage, doubling the capacity of the current 16GB base model. The Wall Street Journal reported the specs on Tuesday.
Citing an anonymous “person familiar with Apple’s iPhone plans,” WSJ claimed the minimum storage capacity will double with the release of the upcoming iPhone 7. Apple Insider also reported the high-end model of the next iPhone could include a whopping 256 GB of storage, versus the maximum storage of 128GB available for the current iPhone 6s. Apple previously ditched the 32GB option in favor of 16 and 64GB models with the release of the iPhone 6 in 2014.
The iPhone 7 isn’t expected to be a huge departure from the iPhone 6 and 6s, apart from replacing the headphone jack with a lightning port to allow for a slimmer design. The larger, 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus is expected to have dual rear-facing camera lenses to improve overall photo quality and add depth-of-field effects. Apple obtained this technology through its acquisition of Israeli optics company LinX.
Apple has announced previous iterations of the iPhone in the second week of September, with the devices available for purchase around one-and-a-half to two weeks later. Expect similar timing for the iPhone 7.
