A possible iPhone 7 component has been spotted on Weibo, or the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, by French tech blog Nowhereelse.fr. The most striking thing about the possible leak is the inclusion of the headphone jack port in the module.
Head over to Nowhereelse.fr to look at the leaked photos yourself, but note the similarities between the puported iPhone 7 module and the current iPhone 6s module. Both have parts that correspond to the headphone jack port and the Lightning port. The blue square outlines the headphone jack port.
This flies in the face of the rumor mill’s current sentiment that Apple plans on doing away with the auxiliary port on the iPhone 7 and instead pipe all the audio either through the Lightning cable port or Bluetooth. As AppleInsider summarized, if the iPhone 7 includes the Smart Connector port Apple implemented with the iPad Pro line, then the next iPhone generation would be able to charge while playing music through the Lightning port.
It was previously suggested that Apple would substitute a second speaker in place of the headphone jack, which takes up much more space inside the iPhone carriage than the Lightning port. Speaking of adding seconds of things to the iPhone, it’s also rumored that Apple plans on instituting a dual camera set-up.
This technology would allow much higher quality picture-taking and digital zoom capabilities, as clearly shown here. Apple gained this technology when they acquired the Israeli imaging firm LinX, who specialized in creating cameras that use multiple lenses. To further back the rumor up, infamously accurate KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has put his weight behind it.
