Another game is joining the multiplayer deduction and survival genre. This time it’s Killer in the Cabin, which is coming to Steam Early Access this November 11. As an added treat, a closed beta is scheduled for 24 hours on October 31.
In the game, players take on the role of one of the survivors from a bush crash and are trapped in the desolate Norwegian mountains. To ensure their survival, they need to work together to look for shelter, get supplies, and share food until help arrives. However, one of them is actually a killer. That member will do what’s necessary to sabotage the survival efforts and eliminate the rest.
For the player assigned as the killer, they can use the sandbox environment to find creative ways to terminate fellow survivors. So, direct violence won’t be a good option. Instead, they need to be stealthy and make sure to avoid detection. These include undermining survival efforts, poisoning food, or strangling someone in their sleep.
Should the party suspect who the killer could be, they can vote, and if more than half agree, the elected suspect dies. The thing is, they won’t know if that was actually the real killer until the game session ends.
Each session allows up to eight players and lasts for 15 minutes. Like similar games in the genre, player communication, deception, and truth-telling skills are put to the ultimate test.
That said, players need a microphone not only to play the game but to also get the full experience. In addition, players need to have these PC system requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 64 Bit
- Processor: Intel i5 4670k
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
- Storage: 12 GB available space
