Tripwire Games’ Killing Floor: Incursion is a virtual reality title that, unlike the original Killing Floor series, was built specifically for play in VR. Originally released back in November on Steam for PC, Tripwire has announced via the official PlayStation Blog that Killing Floor: Incursion will make a home on PlayStation VR in 2018. Now, anyone who opted for Sony’s VR offering over a VR-ready PC or headset, like Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, can get in on some marathon-style Zed-slaying with the optional Holdout mode. Incursion is a lot different compared to Killing Floor, which is essentially waves upon waves of Horde-like zombie slaughtering. Incursion features a more story-driven campaign where you'll be doing a lot more than straight zombie slayage.
Killing Floor: Incursion features a four to six-hour campaign that will take you through various environments, where you must stave off mutated, zombie-like creatures and “biomechanical abominations.” You’ll be joined by the robot companion NODE on your journey, who can assist with outside transmissions to help you along your way. NODE can also go search for additional health, ammo and more.
You don’t have to go it alone, though. A co-op mode allows you to bring a friend along for the fight. The co-op also features fun ways you can interact with your body, including methods closer to the real world. For instance, you can point to items, gesture to things, and pick up and toss things at each other. Or you can just pick up and play around with the monster gibs strung about the play area. Whatever you decide, you know. It’s your game.
Both the solo campaign and Holdout modes can be played via co-op. Holdout features endless waves of enemies you must take a stand against or die trying. Like Gears of War’s Horde mode, you’ll get better weapons to defeat harder enemies as the game progresses. There will also be a new PlayStation VR-specific level in Holdout bursting with Zed enemies.
If you’re interested in trying out Killing Floor: Incursion on PlayStation 4, you’ll be able to play in 2018. Until then, it’s available right now on HTC Vive or Oculus Rift via Steam.
