SNK Corporation and Koch Media have recently announced that King of Fighters XV will be available on all supported platforms early next year.
The latest installment is the first game ever to be released simultaneously on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
What to Expect
The game will feature 39 playable characters, with some franchise staples such as Kyo, Iori, Ralph, Leona, Benimaru, Clark, Terry Bogard, and K’ joining the fight.
When it comes to the format, the game will still follow the classic 3v3 team battle system where characters who are eliminated will be replaced by the next person in the group.
There is also a new mechanic called “Shatter Strike,” which allows you to defend and counter enemy attacks.
Max Mode is making a comeback, while the newly added Max Mode Quick lets you cancel your attacks so that you can extend your combos. Expect to see some crazy attack combinations in high-level tournaments.
Those who want to play with other people across the globe can engage in online battles from two to eight players. You can either engage in a casual match or against other people in ranked battles.
Aside from that, the game comes with a gallery mode complete with character art and sound clips. There is also a special animated short film directed by renowned Japanese anime director Masami Ōbari.
A new DJ Station is added to the game as well, which features over 300 songs from the King of Fighters series. If there is a particular song or set of tunes you like, you can have them played in the background.
Pricing and Bonuses
The Standard Edition costs $60, while the Deluxe Edition is priced at $85. The latter includes the base game and Team Pass 1.
Those who will pre-order either edition today will receive an Early Purchase Bonus, featuring Terry Bogard’s outfit in Garou: Mark of the Wolves as a DLC costume. This applies to both physical and digital versions.
If you pre-order the Digital Edition, you will receive the Classic Leona DLC costume. PS4 users will also receive the original theme.
In addition to DLC costumes, those who will get the Deluxe Edition today can play the game three days before the official launch.
King of Fighters XV will be available on February 17, 2022.
