The Last Of Us is getting a live-action TV series developed by HBO. The Last of Us is one of the most critically acclaimed games ever released, and is exclusive to the PlayStation family of consoles.
The Last Of Us TV show will take inspiration from the video games, keeping a number of similar elements. With the rise of TV series adaptations such as The Witcher, many game companies are looking forward to expanding their work to the big screen.
Also, the hype around The Last Of Us Part II will make the series very popular. Naughty Dog, the studio behind The Last of Us, also confirmed that the Uncharted movie is finally going to happen, starring Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and Antonio Banderas.
Neil Druckmann, the writer and director of The Last of Us and it’s sequel, will be on board helping with HBO’s series.
Sony has sold over 17 million copies of The Last of Us between its original PS3 release and its PS4 remaster. It is a very story-driven and intense game revolving around the characters Joel and Ellie. Joel is a dad who is mourning the loss of his child to a mutant infection. Several years later, he must escort a young girl named Ellie across the country, as she holds the cure for the infection. Later in the game, the pair develop a family relationship with each other which keeps them together.
“This is the first of many shows we intend to develop with our friends at PlayStation Productions,” Chris Parnell, co-president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, told the Hollywood Reporter. “The Last of Us is a brilliant achievement in storytelling and character development, and we are lucky to have the opportunity to work with this team to adapt it.”
So, what are your thoughts on the new Last Of Us TV series? Do you think the adaptation will be as successful as the other gaming adaptions such as The Witcher? Personally, I think this is going to be an amazing TV show and I can’t wait for it to come out as the story is very good. Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
