Guess what guys, a lot of people play League of Legends . In an interview with Polygon , Ryze, half of the duo that created Riot, said that League currently has over 100 million monthly active users. That’s twice the population of South Korea and nearly the entire population of Japan; in other words. that’s a lot of people.
When Overwatch overtook League as the most played game at Korean PC Bangs , people started to say that League was no longer the king of video games. Sorry to the naysayers, but League is still crushing it and coincidently is now the most played game at PC Bangs again .
Ryze told Polygon, “ We’ve kind of been in a reactionary mode. Just like, holy crap, the game is getting really big and we have to keep up with the demands of our players.“
I love League of Legends , so it does my heart good to see it doing extremely well. Learning every single champion name, ability and item isn’t easy and I would hate to have all that information in my head go to waste. League will always be my favorite game, even if nobody plays it. Still, I’d prefer it to be popular, that way the queue times are always low.
