Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should rejoice! That is because a new leak tied to Activision’s game has teased the possible addition of a highly-requested game mode.
Since the game’s release two months ago, it has quickly become a fan favorite. One of the most requested features that players have been clamoring for is a Ranked mode. If this becomes a reality, there is another reason for multiplayer fans to love Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Although the addition of the Ranked mode to the popular first-person shooter title is far from official, it looks like Infinity Ward is indeed working on adding it soon. Reports suggest that the developers have started laying the groundwork for the said mode. According to the leak courtesy of @coidsploitz_imgs on Twitter, the mode might just find its way to the game around the start of 2023.
The Twitter user has recently been publishing a series of shots revealing hefty details about the Ranked mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, such as a mode overview, tiers, and rules, just to name a few. Unfortunately, though, the images were eventually DMCA’d by Activision.
Here are some interesting details about the Ranked mode in the shooter game:
- Players can climb the skill division and tier ladders by earning “SR.”
- SR will be calculated based on factors such as performance, the margin of victory, and win/loss.
- The Ranked mode will be played in a 4v4 setup and would follow every map, rule, and mode found in the Call of Duty League.
- If players win at least three consecutive matches, they will embark on the so-called Hot Streak, setting their rank emblem alight. The emblem would stay that way for as long as players continue winning.
- While rank in the game would be permanent and should persist across multiple seasons, the “Skill Division” (there will be a total of seven skill divisions) would change with each start of a brand-new season.
- In keeping with the previous Ranked modes, Modern Warfare 2’s mode will unlock all unrestricted attachments for players (there will be separate classes), enable friendly-fire by default, lock down any restricted items, and issue suspensions or punishments based on players disconnecting, going inactive, and performing repeated friendly-fire.
Of course, as with any leak or data mining efforts, information should be taken with a grain of salt. It can always change. But considering the fact that Activision has issued several DMCA notices, it is almost safe to assume that Ranked mode might just happen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 soon.
