The Pokémon Go Fest is barely a month away and for those who can’t wait, there’s a little something for everyone. There’s three weekly challenges that are offered in the form of Time Research lines with Trainers being able to unlock additional species of Pokémon once completed. The good news is that anyone can take part even if they don’t have a ticket for this year's Fest.
Week 1 is all about a Skill Challenge and coincides with the game’s celebration for its fourth anniversary. For those new to the game, this one was released on July 6, 2016. That said, this event begins on July 3 and ends on July 8. Here’s what you can expect for this week:
- Go Fest Weekly Challenge: Skill
- Complete all three sets of tasks and earn an encounter with Duckett or Flying Pikachu, a Star Piece, and many other rewards.
- If the number of Trainers from the same team complete the Timed Research, these Pokémon are going to appear during the Fest 2020:
- One million Team Instinct Trainers: Chimecho
- One million Team Mystic Trainers: Alomomola
- One million Team Valor Trainers: Chansey
- Completing this Weekly Challenge lets Trainers earn access to the Go Fest Elite Skill Challenge.
- These are difficult tasks which can be completed to earn personal bragging rights.
- Fourth-anniversary event:
- Flying-type Pokémon and Pokémon wearing party hats:
- Appear in the wild
- Hatch from Eggs
- Appear in Raids
- Ducklett makes its debut in the game not only in the wild, but also hatching from 5 km Eggs.
- Jump-Start Special Research is available this week.
- This is good news for those who missed it at last year’s celebration.
- Don’t forget to take a snapshot during the event for a surprise.

That’s not all as there’s also going to be a Ho-Oh Special Raid Weekend which starts on July 3 and ends on July 6.
Week 2 mainly starts on July 10 and lasts until July 15 and is all about Battle-based challenges. Before we go into the details of this weekly challenge, there’s going to be a Battle-themed event which happens on July 12 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM (local time). That said, here’s what you can expect from this event:
- Complete all three sets of tasks an earn an encounter with Hitmonlee, Absol, Super Rocket Radar, and more.
- If these number of Trainers from the same team complete the Timed Research, these Pokémon are going to appear during the Fest 2020:
- One million Team Instinct Trainers: Ferroseed
- One million Team Mystic Trainers: Alolan Grimer
- One million Team Valor Trainers: Alolan Marowak
- Completing this Weekly Challenge lets Trainers earn access to the Go Fest Elite Skill Challenge.
- These are difficult tasks which can be completed to earn personal bragging rights.
After all those skills and battle challenge, Week 3 is going to be all about a Friendship-based challenge. After all, this is what Pokémon is all about. The event begins on July 17 and ends on July 22, just a few days shy of Fest 2020. For this week, Trainers can expect to:
- Complete all three sets of tasks an earn an encounter with Alolan Raichu, Petilil, Lucky Egg, and more.
- If these number of Trainers from the same team complete the Timed Research, these Pokémon are going to appear during the Fest 2020:
- One million Team Instinct Trainers: Togetic
- One million Team Mystic Trainers: Dratini
- One million Team Valor Trainers: Litwick
- Completing this Weekly Challenge lets Trainers earn access to the Go Fest Elite Skill Challenge.
- These are difficult tasks which can be completed to earn personal bragging rights.
By now you should now that it’s not going to be the only thing happening as there’s also going to be a Summer-themed event. Features include:
- Summer-themed Pokémon appearing in the wild, hatching from Eggs, and appearing in raids. Those lucky enough can find a Shiny Bellsprout.
- Petilil makes its official debut by hatching from 5 km Eggs and even appearing in the wild when the weather is sunny.
- Summer Style Pikachu also appears in the wild.
