When photos of Oliver Queen aboard Rip Hunter’s Wave Rider arrived last week, it was unclear why he would be working with the Legends. Now that the Legends of Tomorrow premiere synopsis has been released, we have a much better idea about what Oliver could be doing with DC TV’s time travelers.

At the start of Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, the team will be scattered throughout time. Last we saw the Legends, they witnessed a second Wave Rider ship touch down and Hourman walked out, warning them of an impending threat. What happens from that moment leading to the Legends being scattered throughout time remains to be seen. Their disappearance won’t make it past Justice Society’s Citizen Steel, who makes ‘a shocking discovery.’ So shocking, he calls in Oliver Queen to help gather the Legends.

LOST AND FOUND — GUEST STARRING STEPHEN AMELL — After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the exposure of the corrupt Time Masters, a new threat emerges.

Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action. After making a shocking discovery, Nate seeks out Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) for help in finding the scattered Legends. Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations - unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences.

Their first stop is 1942, to protect Albert Einstein from being kidnapped before the Nazis destroy New York City with a nuclear bomb. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) notices that Sara (Caity Lotz) has a mission of her own, which leads them both to face her nemesis, Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough). Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill, Dominic Purcell and Franz Drameh also star.

Could the shocking discovery made by Heywood be flashpoint? We don’t know yet how the rest of the Arrowverse will find out about what The Flash has done. This may be how Oliver becomes aware of the whole situation. Unfortunately, the synopsis doesn’t tease appearances from other JSA members like Obsidian, Stargirl, Dr. Mid-Nite or even Hourman. The episode will also see the return of Damien Darhk, but not the rest of the Legion of Doom. Captain Cold and the Reverse Flash will show up early in The Flash Season 3. It’s safe bet Malcolm Merlyn will make his first appearance early in Arrow Season 5.

Legends of Tomorrow returns Oct. 13.
