Rumors for the LG G6 continue to trickle in, but the latest details about the device come directly from LG. The manufacturer shared a teaser for its upcoming smartphone, indicating it will have a large screen and a small, water-resistant body, while also hinting at some new camera features.
The teaser may back up recent reports, which suggest the LG G6 may feature a Quad HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, a first for the mobile industry.
For several years, premium devices have featured QHD displays with a 2560×1440 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, a QHD+ equates to a 2880x1440 resolution and a 18:9 aspect ratio equates to a display that is twice as tall as it is wide. Implementing such display specifications might be LG’s way of differentiating from its competitors.
Additionally, some reports suggest the LG G6 may feature a dual-lens camera. Such a feature has already been seen on the iPhone 7 Plus and is rumored for the Samsung Galaxy S8. Pundits believe the “capture it all at once” part of the teaser alludes to a dual-lens feature for the LG G6.
The LG G6 may be announced during Mobile World Congress in February and may go on sale March 10. At this time no reports about the device have been confirmed.
