Nintendo Selects are Nintendo’s way to introduce gamers who are new to a particular console to some of the platform’s best games for a low price. The company has just announced new additions to the list for its 3DS platform, including two of its most critically acclaimed titles. Starting Feb. 5, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario 3D Land will be re-released as part of Nintendo Selects for the low price of $19.99.
“For people that received a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS system as a holiday gift, these three games are ideal ways to start their gaming library,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a press release. “We’re excited to offer these must-have games for a new, low price.”
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a Nintendo 3DS remake of the classic title, A Link to the Past . The title reimagines the 2D worlds in 3D and allows Link to change into a living painting when he slips between the Dark World and the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Super Mario 3D Land is another traditional Mario platformer that combines classic 2D platforming with 3D models and worlds. It’s a great beginner’s game for anyone who hasn’t picked up a Mario game before.
Along with these two games, Nintendo also adds Ultimate NES Remix , which brings the nostalgic joy of the NES Classic Edition to your 3DS. Ultimate NES Remix offers titles like Super Mario Bros. 3, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda and Punch-Out!! to your handheld system.
A Link Between Worlds was in the news recently when game reviewers took to Twitter to state that Nintendo PR reps asked permission for older reviews of the game. This led to speculation from fans that A Link Between Worlds would be coming to the Nintendo Switch or that a Link’s Awakening remake for the 3DS was coming. The Nintendo announcement confirms that it was just a re-release for the Nintendo Selects program, but we’ll see what else the company has in store for the 3DS soon.
Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Ultimate NES Remix will be available for $19.99 starting Feb. 5.
