Luke Cage Season 2 has been officially confirmed by Marvel-Netflix. The announcement came on Twitter Friday. A brief teaser trailer shows a neon sign hanging in the window of Pop’s barber shop with the words ‘Season 2 Coming Soon.’ The Luke Cage Season 1 opening theme song plays in the background.

It’s no surprise Luke Cage Season 2 is part of Marvel’s plan. The series was so popular it crashed Netflix. A lot happened in Luke Cage Season 1, but it was mostly an origin story and introduction to all the characters of Luke’s rich history and significance in the comics. Mike Colter, who plays Luke, has teased Season 2 may explore the Heroes for Hire storyline, where he teams up with Iron Fist in New York. the two will be well acquainted by the time Luke Cage Season 2 comes around. If Danny Rand doesn’t meet Luke in March when Iron Fist releases, they’ll definitely be fighting side by side in The Defenders , which is also expected to release sometime in 2017.
“We're getting ready to do 'Heroes for Hire' eventually, come on,” Colter said at L.A. Comic Con.
With Jessica Jones Season 2, Daredevil Season 3 and The Punisher also in Marvel’s plans, we may not see Luke Cag e Season 2 until sometime in late 2018 or early 2019.
