April 2018 looks to be a time of new series at Marvel Comics as the publisher announced another brand new ongoing series starring Domino with writer Gail Simone.
Domino, a mutant with the ability to manipulate luck (and an all-around badass with guns), has been linked to the X-Men, especially the black ops faction called X-Force alongside Wolverine, Deadpool, Cable and other notable mutants in the Marvel Comics universe.
“My favorite characters are always the unpredictable ones, and with Domino, you literally never know which way the dice are going to roll,” says series writer Gail Simone in a press release. “I love her, and I can't wait to show her best bad side!”
“Domino will continue to be one of the breakout stars of WEAPON X, but fans have been clamoring to see her get the spotlight for some time now…well, your wish has been granted!” says series editor Chris Robinson.
Currently, no artist has been attached to the series, but we’ll update as soon as Marvel makes an announcement.
Marvel did provide a summary of the upcoming series in its press release: “Marvel’s soldier of fortune has found herself on the wrong side of the Marvel Universe merc community. Hunted by enemies, a danger to her friends, and chased by the one man who hates her more than anything in the world, Domino must fight for her life against her biggest threat – herself.”
If you still need more convincing, here’s Simone discussing the book a little of on Twitter.
With June’s new Deadpool film slated to feature Domino (Zazie Beetz) among its cast of characters, Marvel Comics is looking to capitalize on the increased profile of the character.
Simone is best known for her work on DC Comics series including Batgirl, Birds of Prey and Secret Six . She got her start with Marvel Comics as the writer of Deadpool in the early 2000s.
Marvel Comics also announced plans to release a new Exiles series in April. This series will feature alternate versions of Blink, Wolverine, Kamala Khan, Iron Man and a mysterious teammate.
Domino #1 is set to release on April 11.
