NetEase Games officially announced that the Fantastic Four will be playable heroes in its 6v6 hero shooter "Marvel Rivals" sometime in the future.

The announcement also came alongside a first look at the family of heroes with a single image and notice that a trailer will be coming soon. The post on X showed off Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing in their glory on a flying vehicle.

The Fantastic Four

All of the heroes shown off in the picture were wearing their classic Fantastic Four blue and white clothes.

They were also accompanied by their robotic companion named HERBIE. The vehicle that they are riding on is called the Fantasticar, and on the back is the Baxter Building, which is the team's home and base of operations.

NetEase Games did not really show off anything worth noting in the singular image that revealed the four heroes for "Marvel Rivals." However, one thing it does make clear is that the entire family is making its way to the hero shooter, according to Coming Soon.

Another thing that the latest announcement tells fans of the game is that a trailer for the Fantastic Four will be released on Jan. 6, 2025. The arrival of the family of heroes was not much of a surprise to fans due to the prevalence of leaks for the game beforehand.

Marvel Rivals' Future Content

However, one thing to note is that HERBIE was not part of the leak and came as a surprise addition to the superpowered team. But this does suggest that the robotic companion will not be a playable character.

The announcement comes following a leak for the Fantastic Four when an image was shared on a Chinese app.

What makes the arrival of the family of heroes less of a surprise is that their arch nemesis, Dr. Doom, is already in the game, albeit as a non-playable character, PCGamesN said.

What fans love most about "Marvel Rivals" is how it gives more focus on less-known characters from the comics. Arguably the two biggest winners in this category are Squirrel Girl and Jeff the Land Shark, both of whom have a massive fanbase.

Another thing that fans noticed about the image showing off the Fantastic Four for the game is that the backdrop features a blood-red moon.

Some fans have already started to speculate that this could mean another hero could be coming in the future, Blade, according to IGN.
