Two of the most beloved comic book brawlers of all time will return this week, Marvel confirmed during San Diego Comic-Con gaming panel, and we’re less than 24 hours away from the official return of Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 .
If you aren’t familiar, Marvel Ultimate Alliance originally debuted in 2006, bringing together dozens of heroes (and villains) from the company’s 70-year history. The series was created to capitalize on momentum for the X-Men Legends franchise, cooperative games that stressed their action RPG origins a bit more, and leaned far more on its action elements than character building. Players assembled four-person teams, either calling upon existing Marvel squads or creating their own supergroup, and could even recruit their friends (locally or online) to help out.
According to Marvel, there won’t be many changes to Marvel Ultimate Alliance or MUA2 . Some textures have been tweaked, including portions of the game’s user interface, and the devs will be making some performance tweaks to take advantage of modern gaming hardware. But don’t expect to see any new characters or missions in Marvel Ultimate Alliance when the game (and its sequel) return to digital game stores on Tuesday morning.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a new trailer for this week’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle. We’ve embedded older promotional clips below, released alongside the original PS3/360 versions of MUA and MUA2 , and will update this page if a new Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle trailer is released by Marvel.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance and MUA2 are in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The games return on July 26 and can be purchased individually ($39.99) or as a bundle ($59.99).
