Capcom has announced the release date for its highly anticipated fighting game, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite , along with new additions to the roster and more details regarding the story and other game modes.
Fans can pit heroes and villains against each other on PS4 and Xbox One on Sept. 19.
The game will feature 2 vs 2 team battles with a cinematic Story Mode, a first for the franchise. From the initial announcement trailer, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite ’s story will revolve around Ultron. Here’s the official description of the MvC: Infinite story from Capcom:
Heroes and villains battle together to save their merged worlds from a sinister new threat, Ultron Sigma. A combination of the robotic foes known as Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma from the Capcom Universe, this psychotic villain is obsessed with infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. History’s greatest gathering of warriors must now unite to fight back against Ultron Sigma and save their newly formed world.

Along with the release date, Capcom has updated its character roster with more heroes and villains. Joining Iron Man, Mega Man X, Morrigan, Captain Marvel, Captain America and Ryu will be:
- Ultron
- Hulk
- Thor
- Hawkeye
- Rocket Raccoon
- Chun-Li
- Strider Hiryu
- Chris Redfield
Each character will feature unique abilities and special moves while the implementation of infinity stones will deepen the gameplay by allowing for players to customize their heroes with these special stones.
Pre-orders for MARVEL VS. CAPCOM: INFINITE are available beginning today on all platforms for the $59.99 MSRP Standard Edition and $89.99 MSRP Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes the main game on PS4 or Xbox One and a 2017 Character Pass, which contains access to six all-new additional post-launch characters including Sigma, the main antagonist from the Mega Man X series. Pre-order bonuses for all versions in North America include Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes.
Single-player Arcade, Training and Mission modes and vast multiplayer offerings will also be included in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
