It was early this month when Netmarble first revealed the initial details of its upcoming title Meta World: My City. At the 2023 Game Developers Conference, the studio unveiled more about this new metaverse board game.
During the GDC speaker session, MARBLEX Global Business Development Lead Sean Hwang presented these game’s key features:
- Enhanced graphics.
- Easy-to-learn progressive gameplay mechanics.
- An avatar system where players can create their own avatar and identify themselves in the game’s metaverse.
It was also during this session where everyone got a peek into the game’s economy. The in-game currency is called Meta Cash and it can be redeemed for ITU tokens, which in turn can be used to earn MBX. To obtain Meta Cash, players need to either win board game matches or own virtual real estates.
Meta World: My City is the sequel to Let’s Get Rich. The game offers board game mechanics while giving players the opportunity to purchase virtual real estate and buildings in the metaverse based on locations in the real world. Netmarble has revealed plans to develop the game further to let players interact with each other as they enjoy different types of games in the metaverse world.
