Metroid Prime 4 is one of the most anticipated titles coming for the Nintendo Switch, but the studio developing it has remained a mystery since its initial announcement at E3 2017. However, a new report pegs Bandai Namco as the studio responsible for bringing back Samus.
According to Eurogamer, sources have confirmed to the outlet that Bandai Namco is the studio behind Metroid Prime 4. Specifically, Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, which is leading the project in collaboration with Nintendo. Eurogamer points out this studio houses former LucasArts Singapore staffers who were working on a cancelled Star Wars 1313 game.
Internet rumors surroundingb the Metroid Prime 4 development studio swirled this week after job listings began popping up on sites like LinkedIn. That particular job posting states that Bandai Namco Singapore is looking for a lead designer to work on an unannounced IP first-person shooter/action adventure game exclusive for Nintendo Switch, among other games.
That seems to describe the Metroid Prime series, and it wouldn’t be the first time Bandai Namco worked on first-party Nintendo titles before. The developers were behind Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U and Pokken Tournament and Pokken Tournament DX for Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
Metroid Prime 4 was revealed via a short teaser trailer at E3 2017 that only showed its logo and still became one of the most talked about games at the show.
Nintendo told Player. One at E3 that longtime Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe is returning to helm the next installment and it will be in good hands with the new development team, and that Metroid Prime 4 will have a “continuous thread” from past games.
