A new batch of content heads to Minecraft: Console Edition this week and should be available on all major platforms by the end of Tuesday. It’s far from the largest patch to hit the console ports of Mojang’s smash-hit sandbox game. But the new patch should be more than enough to keep Minecraft fans content until the Better Together Update delivers cross-platform play later this year.
This week’s Minecraft: Console Edition patch includes almost a dozen blocks, items and mobs from the PC version of the game, including the Illagers, Evokers and other mischievous enemies from Minecraft Update 1.8. It isn’t all threatening though. This week’s Console Edition update adds a pair of friendly creatures, llamas and parrots, and a new user interface engine that should boost performance on all platforms. There are even a handful of new achievements and trophies for any hunters who also happen to be Minecraft fans.
Here’s everything Mojang says to expect in this week’s Minecraft: Console Edition patch:
7 new Achievements/Trophies
New UI engine (saving significant memory - which should boost performance!)
Llamas
Parrots
Woodland Mansion
Treasure Maps
Observer Block
Totem of Undying
Illagers! Vindicator, Vex and Evoker!
‘Bouncy’ Beds
Dyeable beds
Option to change Biomes size to match other platforms (since they are smaller on console by default)
Two new Minecraft DLCs are also heading to digital storefronts this week. The Giants Glide track pack will give Minecraft: Console Edition players three new Glide tracks, each designed to make the player feel much smaller than in the average Minecraft world. And fans of cosmetic add-ons can look forward to the Mini Game Heroes DLC, featuring a collection of skins inspired by the heroes from the Minecraft mini games released by 4J Studios.
Minecraft is currently available on PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and a plethora of smart devices.
