Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is all set to introduce new fighters to the game, which is sure to bring in new players as well. The most recent additions to the roster are none other than Steve and Alex from Minecraft. Yes, it’s that Steve and Alex. Their arrival to the game was announced by none other than Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahito Sakurai.
Just in case you’re not familiar with Minecraft, the two aren’t technically characters in the game. Instead these are the two default character skins and appearances in the game. You can view the trailer below:
Steve and Alex are being released under the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 as Challenger 7. This Fighter Pass is available for $29.99 and contains six Challenger Packs. The pair are the second to be released in this new Fighter Pass, with the first one being Min Min from ARMS, which is already available. Players can also buy the Challenger Pack 7 separately for $5.99. It not only comes with one fighter, but also one stage as well as multiple music tracks.
While nothing much has been shown in the trailer, Sakurai is going to do a deep dive video that’s going to reveal more about Steve and Alex. It’s going to be on October 3 at 10:30 AM ET.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. It is the fifth installment in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Upon release, the game included 76 fighters for players to choose. An individual DLC was released which brought the Piranha Plant to the fight. The Fighter Pass later introduced five new fighters. The Fighter Pass Vol. 2 is expected to offer six fighters, two of which have already been revealed. The remaining four fighters in the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 have yet to be announced.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate received positive reviews, with many calling it the best in the franchise. Critics mainly praised the amount of content as well as the improvements made to the gameplay elements. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has since sold more than 19.9 million copies as of June 2020.
