The official release of Minecraft Update 1.11 is getting close, Mojang confirmed this week, and the team responsible for the Java version of the sandbox game is confident enough in recent progress to publish Minecraft 1.11 Pre-Release 1 on Tuesday. But longtime fans may be disappointed to hear the patch notes for this week’s Minecraft snapshot suggest we’ve already seen all the new features from the game’s next big update.

It’s been more than a month since Mojang last announced any major new features for Minecraft , going back to the Exploration Update reveal at Minecon. We were thrilled to ride llamas, explore mansions and fill Shulker boxes with all sorts of treasures. But it’s hard not to be disappointed by the notion that those are the only new features we’ll see in Minecraft Update 1.11 when the patch is released to the entire community. Even if some of those new features, like maps showing the locations of woodland mansions and underwater temples, will make some of the game’s older content easier for the community to locate, it’s still a bit underwhelming. We’d hoped a recent focus on bug fixes might pave the way for one last influx of new content, before the team switched to the pre-release label, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

What players can look forward to instead are another round of bug fixes, and probably one or two patches with a similar focus, before Minecraft Update 1.11 gets pushed to the main development branch. This week, Mojang eliminated several bugs related to the new Shulker boxes, including one that caused them to improperly display with darkened corners and another that caused the game to crash mid-placement. The latest Minecraft snapshot also attempts to eliminate an issue with mouse click lag and more than a dozen other small issues.
