Capcom is reportedly "looking into" lowering the GPU requirements of its upcoming "Monster Hunter Wilds" video game.

Excitement for the latest entry in the "Monster Hunter" franchise is growing bigger as the official release next month inches closer everyday.

Fans are now asking what the publisher is doing to address the performance issues that players experienced during the public beta last year.

Monster Hunter Wilds' Performance Issues

The studio has finally given the public an update on the situation regarding the performance of "Monster Hunter Wilds." It also confirmed that it was "looking into" lowering the game's recommended GPU requirements on PC.

The first public beta that went live late last year made it clear that the game was still not completely polished, particularly on the performance front. Players then went online and shared every issue that they experienced.

These include erratic framerates, even on decently powerful setups, and unfortunate visual glitches that made the game look like an old N64 console. The publisher said at the time that "Monster Hunter Wilds" was still "in development," according to Eurogamer.

Capcom also assured fans that the game was already in a "more improved state" compared to the beta test version. It added that it was committed to making sure that the quality of the full game would be acceptable for players.

Fans have been hoping that some of the planned improvements to the game's performance could be seen in the second open beta of "Monster Hunter Wilds."

However, Capcom confirmed that the beta, scheduled for two weekends this month, will not include the changes.

Lowering GPU Requirements

Currently, the Steam page for the game recommends that players have an Nvidia GTX 2070 Super or an RTX 4060 to run it properly.

The fact that these are rather expensive could result in Capcom unintentionally pushing back players from playing "Monster Hunter Wilds," The Gamer said.

The post that talked about the studio's plan to lower the GPU requirements of the game also included footage of "Monster Hunter Wilds" with improved performance.

It seems like the publisher is also looking at releasing a free benchmark tool to help fans determine whether their PCs are strong enough to run the game.

However, nothing about these have been confirmed and players will have to wait for more news in the near future for any finalized plans.

The free benchmark tool would be useful, particularly for players who want to wait on buying "Monster Hunter Wilds" until they are sure their rigs can run it, according to Game Ranx.
