Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will arrive on the PC via Steam on January 9, 2020. This is an expansion of Monster Hunter: World and offers a large amount of content. Iceborne is already available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Th PC version includes features like a high resolution texture pack, customizable graphical settings, and DirectX 12 support. In order to make the game better suited for the PC, mouse-and-keyboard controls have been revamped across the board. You can view the trailer below:
In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, players are sent to the newly discovered Hoarfrost Reach. This snow-covered region is home to the new and mysterious Elder Dragon, Velkhan, and progressively expands with the story. In order to help hunters on their journey, new features have been added like the new Clutch Claw mechanic as well as updating all 14 weapon types in order to give additional combat options.
There are also new “series first” gameplay features added, which include:
- A two-player balanced difficulty scale
- The ability to ride small monsters to traverse maps
- A Hunter Helper player incentive to encourage more experienced hunters to help Low and High Rank players progress through the game.
This expansion also offers a new higher difficulty rank called Master Rank. To get access to Master Rank, and with it all the new Iceborne story and quests, hunters need to have completed the main story in Monster Hunter: World through Hunter Rank 16.
Like with the previous games in the series, Iceborne offers robust free post-launch support with the first title update for PC planned for early February. This update includes the addition of fan-favorite Rajang, the Raccoon City collaboration with popular survival horror icons Leon, Claire and Tyrant. March continues with a second title update featuring a new monster for the PC. Eventually title updates for the PC are going to converge with the console schedule for release at the same time in the future. More details are going to be shared at a later time.
Pre-order options are now available for new and returning PC players. This includes the exclusive Yukumo Series layered armor set bonus, especially for those who pre-order early.
For existing owners, the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion is available as digital DLC for $39.99. A Digital Deluxe version, which includes both the expansion and a Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Deluxe Kit DLC of cosmetic items, is priced at $49.99. Finally there is the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition which has the main game and the Iceborne expansion. This is available for purchase digitally at launch for $59.99. The Monster Hunter: World base game is required to play Iceborne.
