Basic Combo - The basic combo for the Long Sword in Monster Hunter: World is simply tapping the Triangle button four times. Players can throw in a thrust attack (Circle) to spice up the basic combo and deal a bit more damage.
Spirit Combo - Once you’ve built up your Spirit Gauge, Long Sword users can tap R2 four times to perform the Spirit Blade combo but it does expel your Spirit Gauge.
Fade Slash Combo - The Fade Slash combo can be performed by holding forward on the left analog stick then pressing Triangle and Circle (same time), followed by hitting R2 twice then R2 + Triangle. Like the Spirit Blade, this combo needs Spirit Gauge to perform.

The most obvious advantage of the Long Sword in Monster Hunter: World is that it has a long-range for a melee weapon. Long Sword users will also benefit from a well-rounded weapon with good speed, strength and mobility. Another advantage is how the Spirit Blade combo and activating the Spirit Gauge buffs up your attacks as long as its active.
DISADVANTAGES
If players plan to use the Long Sword in Monster Hunter: World they need to be aware of some of the disadvantages of using this weapon.
The first disadvantage is the lack of guarding. Long Sword users will have to roll out of the way of monster attacks or else take massive damage. The other disadvantage is that the Long Sword’s sweeping attacks can actually trip up teammates. Other teammates using melee weapons, and fighting close to you, may get swept with the Long Sword’s strikes.
