No Man's Sky finally launches at midnight for PS4 and will introduce players to a staggering universe of a gazillion planets. It's an ambitious and beautiful project, but sadly No Man's Sky is a PS4 console and PC exclusive, which unfortunately limits the amount of people that get to experience the vast wonders of space.
Mobile developer Crescent Moon Games is looking to change this as it is working on an epic space adventure of its own. Morphite is essentially No Man's Sky for mobile, featuring many of the elements that make No Man's Sky so novel.
Crescent Moon Games calls Morphite a "3D procedural metroidvania," offering 7 planets to explore and survive. While seven is a far cry from No Man's Sky's 18 quintillion, Morphite boasts a procedurally generated environment that changes every time you visit one of the seven planets. Because a smartphone's physical storage space is limited and competing against your selfies and foodporn pics, the new worlds are generated on the fly and are not saved to the device. Via PhoneArena, players have enough data to save around 500 planets on their phones.
Details regarding Morphite are limited at this point, but we're definitely looking forward to playing it. Crescent Moon Games has yet to announce a Morphite release date. Stay tuned as we learn more in the days to come.
