There's good news for Mortal Kombat fans who are looking to upgrade to either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X/S. The next-gen upgrade of the game is titled Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and is scheduled to release on November 17 for next-gen consoles. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will include all content and fighters released for the game to date. When Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is released, base Mortal Kombat 11 owners on PS4 and Xbox One will get a next-gen copy of Mortal Kombat 11 for free.
With the announcement of next-gen consoles, several gaming companies have announced free next-gen upgrades. However, some companies have refrained from taking that approach and instead demand players buy a new, albeit upgraded, copy of their games. Due to this, fans have been keeping both their eyes and ears open for any next-gen upgrade news, and it's great to know that Mortal Kombat 11 is offering a free upgrade on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
What does Mortal Kombat 11 Ultiamte offer? Well, there's a host of new things that fans can expect, including:
- Definitive Mortal Kombat 11 Experience: Two new story campaigns and a complete roster of 37 fighters.
- Kombat Pack 2: The recent fighter DLC pack that includes Mileena, Rain, and Rambo.
- Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath Expansion: This includes three playable characters - Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop.
- Kombat Pack 1: Includes six playable characters - Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, The Joker, Terminator T-800, and Spawn.
- Mortal Kombat 11: The base game.
- "Krossplay" Support: Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate supports cross-platforms fights across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
It should be noted that the version of Mortal Kombat 11 that PS4 and Xbox One owners can upgrade to does not automatically include all of the Ultimate Edition content.
Players can also buy a standalone version of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X, which is priced at $59.99. Current Mortal Kombat 11 players can buy the new Kombat Pack 2 for $14.99, which includes three brand new fighters.
