Over the weekend, developer NetherRealm Studios rolled out the latest update to Mortal Kombat 11 on the Nintendo Switch. However, while the update was meant to iron out some bugs here and there and improve game performance overall, reports are coming in that Switch users are experiencing connectivity issues after the update.
Since the latest patch went live last June 1, more and more players are reporting that they can't connect to the game's servers. With Mortal Kombat 11 heavily reliant on an internet connection to play many of its game modes and enjoy several features, players on Switch are finding that there's very little the game will let them do since the update.
In particular, one user on Reddit, u/krinax, posted a PSA on the official Nintendo Switch subreddit. In the post, the user describes the connectivity issues being experienced, and was met with reports from several other players with the same problems. Later on, the user offered the correspondence between him and a customer support representative from Mortal Kombat 11 publisher Warner Bros. Entertainment. The correspondence was merely a set of basic troubleshooting instructions which have been unsuccessful so far for most of the users experiencing the issue. The publisher has made no acknowledgement of any issues on their end, leaving many Switch users dissatisfied.
Hopefully, both NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment will be able to resolve these issues before the situation deteriorates. As of now, there have been several users who publicly shared their success at getting a refund for the game, with many others undoubedtly considering that as a course of action.
For the most part, Mortal Kombat 11 has been met with mixed reviews. While the gameplay and animation are widely considered as the best the franchise has to offer - cutting-edge visuals and intense, action-packed gameplay - the game has also been criticized for adopting a greedy business model that requires players to put in an unreasonable amount of time to acquire in-game rewards, and for requiring an online connection for several modes and features.
