Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin and Portia Doubleday answered questions and talked about the upcoming Mr. Robot Season 2 during a panel in New York City yesterday. The cast revealed some interesting tidbits and details about the show.
According to Variety reporters Cynthia Littleton and Jessica Troland, who were in attendance, the pressure is running high to make sure Mr. Robot Season 2 matches up the expectations set by the award winning first season of Mr. Robot .
Sam Esmail, the creator and showrunner of Mr. Robot , took an unusual step for Season 2 and signed himself up to direct all ten episodes personally. This usually isn’t done for the exact reason the Mr. Robot cast is currently experiencing: it’s a scheduling nightmare.
Not only does Esmail have to direct the episodes during the week, but he also has to produce and take care of logistics while editing the episodes together on the weekends. This, coupled with having to lock down script access due to intense fan interest in the sophomore season, can lead to a pressure cooker.
However, it will all be worth it come July 13, when Mr. Robot Season 2 premieres, and you’ll want to “buckle in, ” according to Slater, who plays Mr. Robot.
