My Friend Pedro Gets A Release Date Trailer, Launches On June 20

Looks absolutely bananas.

E3 is anticipated for many reasons – game announcements, game updates, game trailers, and so much more. But for me, the real wonder lies in the announcements of release dates, as we now have something to look forward to.

And for me, nothing is more anticipated than DeadToast Entertainment and Devolver Digital’s My Friend Pedro, a shoot ‘em up with a weird set-up and incredibly fun mechanics. It was first teased and announced back in E3 2018, and I’m really glad that it only took a year for it to materialize. Check out the release date trailer below, coupled with another banging track. It’s absolutely – wait for it – bananas.

Get it? It’s called ‘Hype Train’ and it’s set on a train. Anyway, the trailer does show off much more fluid gameplay this time around, with your unnamed character blazing through the train’s cabins in a flurry of blood, bullets and gore. Of course, by the end there’s the sentient banana with a Mexican accent watching the whole thing on TV, which is something I’d see in a fever dream or on an episode of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.

My Friend Pedro will be available on the Switch and PC via Steam, and you can pre-purchase it now on both storefronts. For some additional good news, My Friend Pedro is 15 percent off on Steam until June 20, launch day. Check out the system requirements for it below to get your rig ready for My Friend Pedro.

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 x64
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-530 (2 * 2930) or equivalent
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GT 440 (1024 MB)
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 x64
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 (2 * 3600) or equivalent
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 760 (2048 MB)
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

What surprised me the most about My Friend Pedro is that when it was first announced, I distinctly remember playing a flash game just like it. Lo and behold, it actually is a flash game, which you can try out here; it’s even made by the same developers, which is an amazing find for Devolver Digital. Some of the best titles I’ve played this year came solely from the publisher, including Observation, Katana Zero and Ruiner. I have little doubt that I will get to add My Friend Pedro to that list.

My Friend Pedro will be released for the Switch and the PC on June 20.
