2K Games announced the cover athlete and all the details for its upcoming NBA 2K18 special edition, simply titled Legend Edition and Legend Edition Gold. Shaquille O’Neal will grace the cover of the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition games, marking the third time the Hall of Famer has been on the cover of an NBA 2K title.
2K also revealed pre-order and Early Tip-Off weekend details alongside the announcement. Those who pre-order NBA 2K18 Legend Edition will receive special Shaq memorabilia for their My Career characters, in-game content and access to Early-Tip Off when it begins on Sept. 15.
If players want to pre-order the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition Gold, they will receive more in-game content and exclusive stickers along with 20 weekly MyTEAM packs.

NBA 2K ’s Early Tip-Off weekend allows players who pre-order the latest NBA 2K game to get the game four days early allowing for an entire weekend of gameplay.
The Special Editions for NBA 2K began two years ago with Michael Jordan being the first Legend to don the cover forthe Legend Edition beginning with NBA 2K17, which coincided with the retirement of Kobe Bryant.
The above trailer for NBA 2K18 featuring Shaquille O’Neal pokes fun at the duo’s public on- and off-court feud as Shaq was not the first to grace the Legend Edition cover.
As for the cover athlete (or athletes) who will grace the covers of the standard editions of NBA 2K18, those are normally revealed in June, so keep your eyes peeled for those reveal or reveals.
Paul George was the cover athlete for NBA 2K17 and NBA 2K16 had three cover athletes. Stephen Curry, James Harden and Anthony Davis all had their own covers and shared a cover.
WIth E3 2017 around the corner, fans of NBA 2K should expect more information regarding the in-game story and career mode of this year’s installment. Recent leaked screenshots suggest that the WNBA may play a part in the NBA 2K18 career mode or at least an option, which would build upon the inclusion of Men’s College Basketball and the USA Men’s Olympic Team in 2K17.
NBA 2K18 will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on Sept. 19.
