Riot’s acting sneaky these days, and just released a teaser story for their next champion, Taliyah. The story itself has Taliyah meeting up with Yasuo who teaches her how to use her earth-moving powers. Here’s everything we know about Taliyah from the story:
- Taliyah can move rocks with her will, and seems to pick them up like an Avatar Earth Bender; she can make them float and uses a sling to throw them at people.
- She is Shuriman and comes from a tribe of desert dwellers.
- Protecting her family and the members of her tribe are the most important things to her.
- Noxian men came to her and offered her a chance to train and get stronger.
- Noxians tried to get her to destroy a village; she didn’t want to hurt people so she ran away.
- While running through the Ionian snow she encounters Yasuo who becomes her mentor.
- A merchant “watched Taliyah, his eyes drifting from the pale lavender of her tunic to the glimmer of gold and stone in her hair.
- The end of the story has her going to the Frejlord to learn more about her powers.
- Yasuo refers to her as a “Shuriman Sparrow.”
- She fears Azir now that he's come back to "unite the tribes of Shurima."
In the story, they don’t mention anywhere that this is about the next champion, but it seems pretty likely. Yesterday a Riot champion designer tweeted this:
