An announcement for Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming next week, although Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any extra information about what it might be about. While this could be just about anything, the smart money would be on a new trailer showing off more story and gameplay details for the upcoming Western.
In the tweet above from Rockstar, all that’s mentioned is Sept. 28 and 11 a.m. EDT. The font used is the Red Dead Redemption font, so that confirms it’s a RDR2-related message.
So what could the announcement be? The one thing all Red Dead Redemption 2 fans want to know most is the game’s release date. While this would be an amazing bit of news, that’s pretty unlikely at this point. Red Dead Redemption 2 has already been delayed once, so Rockstar is probably holding back on release date information until it knows for sure when the game will hit store shelves.
This announcement is most likely a new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer. So far, there has only been one, and it didn’t offer much insight about the story of Red Dead 2. We don’t even know if the game will take place before or after the events of Red Dead Redemption. Hopefully, if this announcement is for a new trailer, it will reveal more information about what we can expect from the game’s plot.
This announcement could also relate to Red Dead Online, or whatever name Rockstar will end up calling the multiplayer game mode. Like GTA Online, there will be a large online component to Red Dead Redemption 2, but Rockstar has remained mum on the topic. The mode will likely be similar to GTA Online, with players able to freely explore the game’s map while participating in missions, races and other competitive modes.
Whatever this announcement is, we’ll just have to wait until Thursday for more information.
