The official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account has been dropping increasingly obvious hints that not only is a new Sonic game in development, but also that we’re likely to see a first trailer very soon.
Rumors of a new Sonic game to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog have been persistent for some time, beginning with Crush 40, musicians behind several recent Sonic music tracks, letting slip on Facebook that they’re composing songs for “the anniversary game.” But now the new Sonic game is all but official, beginning with this tweet alluding to the development process:

With music licensing falling into place, a new Sonic trailer at 2016 E3 seems a near certainty, though nothing concrete is yet known about the game itself, or what system it will be released for. E3 2016 begins June 14; expect some answers in the days to follow.
