Team Rocket debuted in Pokémon Go back in summer this year. As expected, the villainous organization is expected to make more mischief in the game.
Pokémon Go fans recently got their first look at three mysterious new Team Rocket characters on the updated loading screen. Now, Professor Willow made some interesting discovery that might lead to where the villains are hiding.
On the official site of the game, developer Niantic published a "report" courtesy of Professor Willow relating to strange metallic objects Team Rocket Grunts have been leaving behind. It remains a mystery, however, as to what these "mysterious components" represent, let alone their purpose in the game. Still, the report suggests that the devices are being utilized in an attempt to take over PokéStops. They could even be used to track down Team Rocket’s whereabouts.
"I had a hunch that the Team Go Rocket Grunts were using some sort of device to take over PokéStops and collect resources. Based on what I know so far, these Mysterious Components I've found seem to be able to serve that purpose," the report reads. "But considering how advanced this technology is, there must be another use for it. I've been working on something in my lab with the help of the team leaders, and I think we might be able to use these components to track down where Team Go Rocket is hiding."
The most interesting part of the report is the title, which is "Looming in the Shadows." Interestingly, it also refers to the name of a new Special Research questline discovered in Pokémon Go’s game files courtesy of popular dataminer Chrales. This seems to suggest that the mysterious components discovered might lead to the whereabouts of Team Rocket members, namely, Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra
Niantic has not revealed further details about these characters, though. Nonetheless, they seem to be high-ranking members of the evil team and are even featured alongside their boss Giovanni on Pokémon Go's newest loading screen.
