Blizzard is revealing the cards for Hearthstone: Whispers of The Old Gods fairly quickly. Two more cards have been added to the list, with one being a very interesting legendary. Herald Volazji is a six-mana 5/5 Priest legendary that’s Battlecry summons 1/1 copies of all your minions. It’s a weird card to say the least. It’s stats are nothing special and Priests don’t exactly have a lot of good minions to copy with this ability. Deathrattle cards seem to be the ones that would combo well with it but most of them, such as Nerubian Egg or Haunted Creeper , will not be in standard format . Though two Ragnaros The Firelords would be a really powerful board, 16 damage a turn is no joke.
Priests don’t exactly have a lot of good minions to begin with, which is why I hold Forbidden Shaping to such high standards . This legendary would have a great effect if it was for another class. A face deck that could spam multiple Leper Gnomes and then have them copied would be amazing, but Priest doesn’t use those. Dark Cultist is the best card that Priest have to combo with Herald Volazji , but the cultist will not be in standard format. I don’t see this card going anywhere, even with its super cool effect.
The other card is Infested Tauren which is a four-mana 2/3 that has Taunt and summons a 2/2 slime when it dies. This is an obvious attempt to fill the void that Sludge Belcher will leave when the format changes. I don’t see that card filling that niche since its stats are so abysmal. A 2/3 for four mana is laughably bad, a two mana Huge Toad can trade into it. You get a 2/2 afterwards but at an absurdly high cost.
Blizzard is trying to make better four mana cards since Piloted Shredder will also be removed in the format change. Shredder guarantees at least 5/4 for four mana, giving more value most of the time. The tentacle bull gives 4/5 with a tiny taunt. I don’t see this card taking anything’s place and being relegated to the bottom of the collection pile.
