The upcoming "MAR10 Day" event is on the horizon, and its festivities are set to begin, with Nintendo's latest announcement also inviting fans to head on over to "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" for a marathon of sorts.

The in-game event for "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" for the beloved Mario Day is now inviting players to race around the track until participants reach a total of one million accumulated laps.

Of course, this event comes with rewards for players partaking in the in-game throttle fest, with Nintendo announcing rewards like Platinum Points and Nintendo Switch Online trial subscriptions for those who will participate.

Nintendo Wants You to Race for 1 Million Laps on 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'

The latest press release from Nintendo is all about this year's massive Mario Day celebration, which is set annually on March 10. This year, the company wants you to race for your lives in a special event for its famed racing title "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe."

The company calls this special event the "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Community Challenge Event." This community challenge event will require users to drive around in online races, and this requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for players. Not having one will disqualify the player.

Nintendo has come prepared with 14-day free trial Nintendo Switch Online membership for players, which they can redeem via a code to join the event.

Players then need to participate in the challenge by heading on over to the Online Play mode of "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," and then choosing Tournaments to search for the specific Community Challenge Event.

Lastly, players need to enter the code "1152-2501-4827" to start racing and rack up the laps required by Nintendo to reach total of one million.

After joining the Nintendo Switch Online and entering the code, players may already start racing with online friends or random players by joining the available races. There is no need to be competitive and rank 1st in every race, but players are welcome to do so if they feel like taking the race to the next level.

will count the total number of laps made by each player who joined the code. One match will allow up to 12 players to race in laps of three, which already totals to 36 laps int total.

The Community Challenge Event will be available from March 7 to March 17, with players getting plenty of time to rack up the laps, burn rubber, and play with other fans for a common goal.

In a way, this is also a fitting sendoff event for Nintendo's "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," which has been the go-to first-party game for all things racing on the Switch console.

Now that the Nintendo Switch 2 is almost here and the company has unveiled an untitled new "Mario Kart" game, this may be one of the last experiences for "MK8 Deluxe" players to enjoy.
