The upcoming EA online event, EA Play Live, will take place on July 22 at 1 p.m. EST. The publishing giant has tons of games to show, however, some of the expected games won’t be present. It has already been announced that the upcoming Mass Effect sequel and Dragon Age 4 won’t be present at the event. Now, you can add one more game to the list.
EA announced yesterday via a Twitter post that no new Star Wars games will be shown during the upcoming event. So, if you were hoping to see Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, well, tough luck. But this doesn’t mean that no Star Wars games are being developed at EA. It just says that there is no showcase for us this year. The tweet further added that more information about any Star Wars game will come in 2022. Whether it will be Star Wars: Battlefront 3 or a completely new game is the big question.
Now we know which games won’t be shown at the event. So, let’s talk about which games will be there. You can expect a deep dive on the upcoming Battlefield 2042. The annually released EA sports game and the heavily rumored Dead Space reboot will be present as well. I hope that EA has a secret AAA game ready or it may end up as a weak event.
EA is not the only company developing a Star Wars game. Back in January, it was announced that the EA exclusivity deal for SW will end in 2023, so no other company can launch a Star Wars game until then. It was also announced that Ubisoft is developing an open-world Star Wars game. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Motive, the same studio behind The Division 1 and 2. However, don’t expect it to come out before 2023.
