The Games With Gold list for October may have leaked early and if this leak proves to be true, it will bring some big-name games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. This information comes from a post on video game forum NeoGAF.
In the post, user MauroNL shared an image that features the line-up of free games included in Games With Gold for October. The list mentions DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition will be available through all of October, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be available on Oct. 16, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow can be downloaded for free from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15 and Blood Drive will round out the month, being marked free from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31. If this list proves to be real, that’s one great line-up of freebies for Xbox gamers.
It should be noted that this could very easily be a hoax. The image shared is pretty low-quality and it’s something that could very easily be faked with Photoshop. In fact, the price and date information on the picture does look suspect, as does the fact that some artwork uses ESRB ratings and some use what look like the PEGI ratings. I wouldn’t celebrate about the alleged October’s Games with Gold list until there’s been an official announcement.
The leak could still be accurate despite the questionable photo. It makes sense for WB Interactive to promote Middle-earth: Shadow of War’s release by giving away Shadow of Mordor. The other games are such odd picks that if someone were to have faked this, it doesn’t make much sense. Why bother creating false hope for a “generally unfavorable” game like Blood Drive?
When will we know for sure about the October line-up of games? Very soon. Microsoft has always shared the Games With Gold line-ups before the start of each month. There’s not much time until October gets here, which only leaves Microsoft with a few days to make an announcement. The proper reveal will likely come by the end of this week.
So what do you think? Do you hope the games mentioned in the leak are the real Games With Gold offerings for October? If not, what games would you like to see instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
