Old World, the 4x strategy title developed by Mohawk Games, has received a new patch recently. Update 103 implemented a new network system that enables players to enjoy the game locally via LAN. This is a godsend, especially for those who constantly experience high latency when playing Old World online.
Update 103 also brought some AI improvements. For one, the AI is less likely to build a huge number of forts now. Instead, it will focus its attention on defending the forts it has already established. Moreover, players should be careful when stealing city sites from the AI because it will no longer hold back from doing the same.
While support for LAN games has been added, the company has issued a hotfix that reverts most of the underlying network code changes as they were causing issues with server-mode games. LAN is still available in Old World, however, so there’s nothing to worry about in that regard.
Patch Notes
- City Discontent Level can now go negative.
- Negative discontent level gives bonuses to growth and reduces maintenance. Positive discontent level no longer reduces growth.
- Discontent increase rate reduced by 4 on all difficulty levels.
- Citizens now give -5 family opinion
- Repair project is now 1 + (10% of HP)/turn instead of (20% of HP)/turn
