Wedding bells may soon be ringing on ABC’s Once Upon a Time and the fairy tale wedding (literally) will feature Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook (Colin O’ Donoghue). With most of Season 5 focusing on Emma and Hook trying to save each other (the former became the Dark One and the latter went to the Underworld), Season 6 could finally bring the couple together in matrimony.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Hook and Emma’s reunion in the Season 5 finale featured a wedding dress in the background. EW asked the team at ATX if a Captain Swan wedding is scheduled in the next season.
“I would say you’ll have to watch Season 6, you never know what’s going to happen,” said executive producer Edward Kitsis. “You never know what’s going to happen with those two.”
Morrison, for one, is rooting for Emma and Hook ending up with one another. The actress told Hollywood Life that Emma and Hook have been through a lot.
“I do feel like they really are true love, and they are going to do whatever it takes to fight to be together,” Morrison said. “I think that’s also an interesting thing to do on television. A lot of times TV keeps characters apart that are in love. Physically, they kept us apart. But for most of Season 5 we do spend the time admitting that we’re a couple. It’s not that they had a falling out with each other. I think that ultimately as the story continues, it’s going to be important to see Emma’s happy ending. Emma is sort of, she is the new fairytale, she’s Eddy and Adam’s creation, so I think ultimately we’re on a journey to figure out what her happy ending looks like.”
As for the other romantic couples on the show, Rumple (Robert Carlyle) and Belle’s (Emilie de Ravin) pregnancy and sleeping curse will be addressed in Season 6, according to Kitsis. Regina (Lana Parrilla) lost her love, Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), in Season 5 and her character will be mourning the loss.
“I think mourning will continue, over time,” said Parrilla to TVLine. “Regina is a very private person, she doesn’t really share a lot of what’s going on inside. Internally, she’s conflicted by so many things that she doesn’t even talk about. So I’m curious to see how she deals with this loss at this stage, at this time in her life. There’s been so much evolution, she’s come so far, she’s been in the shoes of the hero for the last couple of years, so I’m curious to see how she’s going to handle this big loss.”
Parrilla also told TVLine her character losing some of her optimism. “I feel like Regina is in a hopeless place right now, and we’re going to see how she deals with those emotions in the season finale and also in Season 6,” said Parrilla.
Once Upon a Time Season 6 returns to ABC this fall.
