The upcoming installment from Konami's famed psychological horror franchise, "Silent Hill f," was recently revealed to be coming to the Steam Deck once it releases. This is good news for all Steam Deck players who are awaiting the new game, but a recent report from Valve unveils a caveat that comes along with its availability.
'Silent Hill f' Is Coming to Valve's Steam Deck
According to a report by GameRant, following the confirmation of "Silent Hill f's" PC system requirements last month, Valve has recently revealed that the game will also be available for its handheld gaming console, the Steam Deck.
This is a massive win for players who own the portable gaming device as they would be able to access the upcoming new horror game firsthand.
This is great news for the many Steam Deck owners who are eager to experience the new Japanese horror experience set in the 1960s featuring the fictional rural town of Ebisugaoka. Moreover, players will be thrust into the world of "Silent Hill" without being in the actual parallel dimension town seen in past games.
After the release of its first trailer, many fans showed excitement for the upcoming game as it still captures the insidious beings and tone which the franchise set. That being said, more in-depth details about the story and its gameplay are still unknown.
Valve's Steam Deck Caveat for 'Silent Hill f'
However, while Valve recently confirmed that "Silent Hill f" will be playable on the Steam Deck, Valve has regarded "Silent Hill f" as not Steam Deck verified.
Based on the recent Steam Deck Compatibility test by Valve, the game is only "playable" and not "verified" for the handheld gaming console as there are many aspects behind it that may prove to be a challenge for the handheld experience.
According to Valve, the tests found that "Silent Hill f's" in-game text that will appear at the bottom of the screen will be "small and may be difficult to read" using the built-in display of the Steam Deck. Moreover, Valve also noted that players will be required to configure several graphics settings manually for it to "perform well" on the Steam Deck console.
That being said, Valve revealed that based on its tests, "Silent Hill f" will have "all functionality" available for players who would use the default controller configuration of the handheld. Moreover, "Silent Hill f" will also be able to show the Steam Deck controller icons.
