Are you still one of those players who hasn't tried out Overwatch yet? Thinking you might get around to it once it's available for a decent price? You're in luck, especially if you're saving those pennies right now for the end of the year, or to fulfill some New Year's resolutions. Blizzard has slashed the price of the PC version of Overwatch by 50 percent to just $20. That's a pretty good deal, especially if you haven't yet jumped on the hype train.
If you want some additional cosmetic goodies and loot boxes without spending cash in-game, you can opt for the Game of the Year Edition instead, which has been discounted to $30. These price changes make the PC version of the game more affordable, and are some of the better prices we’ve seen for both versions of the game since it released. If you're not concerned about extra skins and loot boxes, $20 for regular Overwatch is a steal, especially if you just need it to keep up with your friends.
You don't have to worry about free loot boxes or skins with the Game of the Year edition, either. Overwatch ’s Winter Wonderland event is live, and has a flurry of its own goodies you can simply unlock for free, just by playing. Staying true to Overwatch event fashion, there's a selection of seven new skins you can unlock. Ana, Bastion, Hanzo, Junkrat, Roadhog, Soldier 76 and Sombra join in on the festivities with a selection of wintry outfits.
There's also the introduction of Yeti Hunt, a new mode where five players suit up as Mei in an attempt to take out one super-powered Winston in his Yeti skin. Mei's Snowball Offensive, the holiday mode from last year's winter event, makes a return as well. You can nab free loot boxes for participating in these modes and winning as well, so you can snag one of the new skins, cosmetic items, and even the items from last year's event too.
With the new Overwatch price, you can recruit a few friends to get in on the fun with you before we ring in the new year, so if your squad’s been feeling a little lonely, this should make for a good solution.
